Two goals, each scored in the final minute of each half, gave Slough victory in this Athenian League match. For Redhill the jinx continues, they have never managed a victory over Slough and on Saturday's showing it will be a long time before they do. Slough should have had more goals but the succession of chances were not taken advantage of. The Slough scorers were Keith Meade and Mick Chatterton, who hit his 13th goal in 13 games since joining Slough.
Slough included Giggle, their latest signing from Hitchin Town, and Hunn, the young player they have on loan from Arsenal. Giggle showed his cleverness as a ball player but Hunn lacks experience and was substituted by Reid during the second half.
It was in midfield that Slough really showed their class, Hunn looked good for the first half hour but it was the Reardon-Day partnership that stood out above all else, these two have developed a fine understanding and Reardon can overcome his natural urge to hold the ball too long the duo will find few equals in the amateur game.
The 59th minute substitution of Reid for Hunn saw Slough's midfield at its best, Hunn has yet to gain the experience and maturity of Reid and it looks very likely that Day Reid and Reardon will be the Slough midfield certainly for this season.
The game started four minutes late due to difficulties over the colour of the Redhill keeper's jersey, but once underway Slough soon got into their stride using new boy Giggle at every opportunity, his obvious talents were on display but as with most debuts the player tried just that little bit too much and his natural gate suffered.
The visitors gained their first corner of the game in the 44th min, and Slough chastised them for their insolence by taking the lead in the final seconds of the half. A free kick was awarded to Slough just outside the Redhill area. Day dallied on the ball while players ran this way and that completely unsettled the defenders until D'Arcy ran in and lobbed the ball to the far post for Keith Meade to dive forward and head home his second goal of the season.
The second half was again one way traffic, Slough had corners in the 46th, 48th, and 51s minutes but then lapsed to allow Redhill to gain three corners, all within the 60 seconds of the 55th minute. Two minutes after this Redhill's Wise was booked for showing dissent over a free kick and two minutes after that we saw both substitutes come on.
At this point Day began to take more of a hand in the front hitting the post after Reardon pass in the 61st and having two consecutive shots cleared off the line in the 70th, with Slough continuing to press we had to wait until the 88th for another Day header to be cleared off the line but before that we saw Reardon go into the book for shirt pulling.
With one minute to go and the crowd already beginning to disperse Slough got their second goal, Reardon and Giggle combined to push the ball inside to Chatterton and Slough's top scorer made no mistake with his 13th goal in 13 games to complete the score at 2-0.
