Considerable interest was taken in this match, which was played in Kidwell’s Park on Saturday, as on the previous half holiday the clubs met at Slough, when the Bucks club won by three goals to one. The Norfolks were determined to “turn the tables” if possible, and they did so by a goal to love.
During the first half, the Norfolks attacked the Lodge goal and they did a deal of pressing, and it was only the fine goal keeping of Crocker that prevented a score on several occasions.
Lawrence’s charge at the further end was occasionally in jeopardy, but it remained intact. Not so the Slough goal, since just before the interval, Moore made a clever run, but was stopped by Walker, who sent the ball across to the left. Beasley seized it and centred it to Moore, and though the latter was tackled, he managed to pass out to Wiggins, who scored a fine goal.
The game during the second half was vigorously contested, but there were no additions to the score, and when time was called the result was a win for the Norfolks by one goal to none.
