Josh Jackman was the hero for Slough as the Rebels took a vital three points on the road at Chippenham Town, writes David Tancred.

The full-back came up with the winner on 79 minutes as Dan Roberts dinked in a delightful ball from the left-hand side towards Jackman, who generated enough power on his header to guide the ball into the far corner.

Slough started the game off brilliantly, with the opening chance happening within the first minute as Johnny Goddard broke into space with the number 11’s shot falling straight into the keeper Will Henry’s midriff.

Slough started to build up their confidence and on 17 minutes Ben Harris came close to opening the scoring with a header from Scott Davies’ cross, which fell just wide of the Chippenham goal.

Unfortunately, this was the last action of the night for our striker as Harris was involved in a heavy challenge from a Chippenham player resulting in the number 9 leaving the field after just 22 minutes.

After the injury neither side got a real foothold of the game with some heavy challenges going in and limited chances for either side.

The Rebels had the last chance of the first half with Aaron Kuhl providing a delicious ball through to Goddard, whose strike deflected out for a corner.

The second half started out quite slowly with lots of fouls and stoppages in play.

After the 60th minute, Slough started growing more and more into the game and created a gilt-edged chance on 74 minutes as Matt Lench’s corner squeezed its way through a crowded area towards Dan Roberts, whose effort went agonisingly wide of the goal from the edge of the area.

Two minutes later the Rebels had another big chance as Roberts almost turned provider with his cross from the left finding Lench in the six yard area, however his effort was superbly tipped away by Henry in the Chippenham goal.

After the goal from Jackman, Slough’s defence stood resilient as they held out for a huge three points for the club.

This result continues Slough’s impressive form in the league, with the Rebels being unbeaten in the last four and winning three of them in the process.

The Rebels will now have to wait for their next game, which is at home to Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday October 8th.
