Two late goals from Boot and Daly turned this game on its head. For the vast majority of the game, Slough were well off the pace and not at their usual levels. Once they got their opener, it was like watching a different side as confidence returned to the players.
Slough went into the game missing Spencer and struggled in midfield. Continuing from their previous showing at Marlow, Slough struggled to create any serious chances in the opening half but were keeping their opponents out with some solid defending.
The home side looked much the better in the second half and deservedly took the lead when Foster was lobbed from twenty yards and the Rebels performance dropped.
This was taken advantage of by the home side who forced Foster into a number of good saves to keep the Rebels within touching distance.
On eighty six minutes though, Slough found a way through and the momentum of the game changed completely. Boot slammed home the ball from close range and the Rebels were boosted.
Slough started to move the ball around quickly and effectively and won a free kick midway through the Ashford half. Daly met the ball with a firm header back across the goal to send the travelling support wild behind the goal.
It's always nice to get a win but we will have to be better when we face our landlords on Boxing Day.
