Slough Town proved all the critics wrong on Saturday as they pulled of the result of the day away to Sutton. Paul Hardyman's men worked as a team and battled very hard to grind out the miracle result.

Sutton who were one of the favourites to win the Ryman League Premier Division before Saturday's match enjoyed a lively start bombarding Paul Wilkerson's goal with chance after chance. Lady luck must have been smiling down on the Rebels as Sutton squandered so many clear cut chances.

But the match was to take an amazing turn as Slough broke forward in what was only their second attack of the game after 26 minutes. Graham Kemp's cross from the right found striker Neville Roach who neatly laid the ball off to Dutchman Erwin Asselman.

Asselman struck his shot low and hard and it was only a cruel deflection from Sutton's Andy Riley that directed the ball goal-bound.

Riley's desperate lunge took the ball past keeper Graham Howells and into the bottom corner of the net and seal three points for the Rebels.
