In a match dominated throughout by the Rebels, Runcorn scored against the run of play after 13 minutes when their only player who looked dangerous, Steve Shaughnessy, lobbed Trevor Bunting, who had come well off his line, from all of 25 yards.
Slough had plenty of chances prior to and after this goal as they pushed forward. McKinnon, Anderson, Fiore and Sayer all missed from good positions and all tucked their chances wide of the target.
This continued pressure was emphasised by the Rebels having thirteen corners to the visitors one. McKinnon blasted over from close range when released by Lee's free-kick and the first 45 minutes came to a close with Anderson heading just inches wide of the post after an inch-perfect Briley cross.
A minute into the second half, and after over four hours without a goal, Slough pulled level. Stanley's cross from the right was met by a diving McKinnon header. The Runcorn 'keeper did tremendously well to block this initial effort, but before he could collect the ball, Briley pounced to blast the ball into the net.
Thereafter, Slough pushed forward looking for the winner. Good team work displays, especially from Briley, Fiore and Sayer, saw Slough create a number of chances.
However, a combination of good goal-keeping and Slough failing to hit the target prevented them from taking the three points our dominance so richly deserved. That said, Slough picked up their first point in four matches as the match finished all square.
