Attendance: 762
A twice taken penalty by Darren Anderson secured Slough's first Conference goal in nearly 400 minutes, but was not enough to earn a share of the points at Farnborough Town on Tuesday night.
It's now eight games since Slough took three points from a league future and a place even among the mid-table brigade is starting to look unlikely.
With a only half fit Watkiss deputising for broken arm victim Trevor Bunting in the Slough goal. Slough were often unsure in defence and Dean Coney punished them on the half hour mark.
Even so Slough had their own chances as Farnborough -- who in January were challenging for promotion — appeared somewhat lacklustre themselves.
Donnellan and Pluckrose missed out for Slough before Read got the home side's second to effectively seal the contest.
Slough pressed more in hope than expectation and got a reward when with five minutes to go they were awarded a penalty.
Anderson obliged at the second time of asking —his eighth of the season —but Alan Davies must be wondering how he can lift his side for the marathon journey to the North East for Saturday's difficult looking clash at Gateshead, a side desperate for the points to help them avoid relegation.
