Service will be resumed after the break... that's what a sign at Wexham Park might have said during the two-week freeze.
Sadly it would have been perfectly accurate as Slough continued on Saturday to show the indifferent home form which has dodged them all season.
The Rebels suffered their fifth defeat in their last eight home Vauxhall-Opel League games, in contrast to an unbeaten away record stretching back to beginning of September.
The Rebels manager Alan Davies said: "Both teams at times looked like they missed playing for the last couple of weeks. Overall we had the majority of the game. They had one clear cut chance and put it in the back of the net.”
Jimmy Brown spent a frustrating afternoon chasing lost causes, while the only consistent threat to Croydon came from Keith White. It was White who made Slough's first threatening move after 31 minutes, racing into the box to meet Kenny Wilson's cross with a low volley that was easily dealt with by 'keeper Steve Dungey.
By that time, however, Slough had survived couple of scares, Barry Blackman fired onto the top of the bar and then had his header cleared by Jeff Daly's far post header from a corner was ushered off the line by Gary Woodcraft.
Trevor Bunting had to change his mind at the last moment and push harmless looking Blackman header against the post, but it was not until 10 minutes had gone in the second half that Slough began to make serious inroads.
Dungey had to drive low to claw away White's drive after the Slough skipper had surged ahead of the middle of the park and three minutes later he was reaching up to tip White's header over the bar following Wilson's right wing cross.
After 69 minutes Wilson's shot was blocked in the area and as the 'keeper lay prostrate in the assumption that he had won a free-kick, Waites' chip shot was cleared to safety.
But just as it was looking as if Slough might get the win that would consolidate their third place, Croydon struck. Russell Harmsworth's cross from the right was helped on by Steve Milton to give Daly an easy header past Bunting.
Match Stats:
Corners: Slough 5, Croydon 5.
Attempts target off target blocked: Slough 11-2-1, Croydon 6-5-1.
Slough attempts: White 3-1-0, Waites 3-0-1, Bateman 1-1-0, Brown 1-0-1, Jacobs 1-0-0,MacManon 1-0-0.
