IF SLOUGH Town pull off a shock and land the Isthmian League title for the first time they will not have had a more valuable contribution than Paul Lee's last minute winner in Tuesday's Isthmian League game.

It was a victory Slough never looked like achieving in the first-half in which they spent most of their time defending frantically. New centre-half Eric Young - preferred to Richard Strong - marked his debut with three timely clearances and, despite fine covering from Beyer and Matcalfe, Hendon should have gone ahead. Hendrick twice shot narrowly wide, while Roughan was inches off target with a glorious volley.

A heavy rain storm in the second-half seemed to wake Slough up and they grabbed the lead seven minutes after the interval when Mick Kiely headed in a corner from the right by Friend.

A mistake by Turl led to Teale making a brilliant finger tip save from Butler but in the 77th minute Hendon equalised. Hendrick's long cross was headed out of Teale's reach by Garrini and Haider ran the ball into the net.

Slough now put more effort into their game and after Friend had been booked for a foul they grabbed an 89th minute winner. Metcalfe and Kiely worked the ball to Russell who sped away to cross from the right for Lee to climb majestically and head home at the far post.
