Slough dropped vital points in their Berger Isthmian League game at Walthamstow on Saturday.

Injuries have caused team manager Joe Arpino a lot of headaches and on Tuesday veteran Terry Reardon was brought back into the side and showed he is still a force to be reckoned with.

Green Pond Lane was certainly not the place for those who enjoy adventurous attacking football, with two sides struggling to produce any semblance of football, and failing Walthamstow took the field without regular goalkeeper Wilson, who failed to turn up, with his place being taken by midfield player, John Worrell, and with Slough without Paul Lee, Barry Metcalfe, and Barry Friend, a sizzling game was certainly not on the cards.

But even so, there was no need to resort to the timid tactics which were served up by both sides. Walthamstow pinned their faith on an offside trap. whilst Slough relied on Dave Russell up front after losing Peter Feely after 16 minutes.

Therefore spectators were treated to the sight of players bunching in the centre of the pitch, so producing a chaotic and boring match.

Slough managed just three shots at goal throughout the first-half, through Turl, Gane and Russell, whilst Hunter was just off target for Avenue.

The second half started more promisingly with Gane and Russell shooting wide, whilst referee Callette twice denied Slough penalties for blatant handball by Jarman.

The winner came as a result of bad Slough tactics, when Teale rolled the ball to Underwood, The Slough defender was then robbed by Barry Walder, and although the striker's shot went across the goal. Teale failed to hold the ball and Sedgewick scored with a gift chance in the 68th minute. Two minutes later Sedgewick again caused problems, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
