Slough Town are out of the FA Cup, dismissed from the preliminary round by Hillingdon Borough in a replay at Wexham Park on Tuesday evening.
It was an uninspiring game with Slough once more having more chances than their opponents but completely failing to take advantage of them.
The goal which sealed Town’s fate was scored midway through the first half. Slough had Underwood back in their rearguard but Rhoden, who showed up prominently in the first game at Hillingdon was dropped, Reardon making his first appearance of the season.
Slough should have sewn the game up in the first twenty minutes, they had at least eight golden opportunities with Russell, Cruse, Lee, Davies, and Somers all the culprits.
Then Hillingdon, who had seldom looked dangerous, got the all important goal. Smith found himself unmarked and drove the ball past Porter with a truly great shot. One of the few goal-worthy shots of the whole match.
In the second half Slough drifted along never able to do anything tangible to finalise the openings created.
The longer the game went on the greater did Slough's frustration become. Hillingdon were also sadly lacking in firepower and missed several chances of making the game safe.
In the next round Hillingdon visit Grays Athletic.
