Slough Town gained their biggest win of the season and at the same time stretched their remarkable unbeaten run to 14 games as they crushed Division Two side Oxford City in the first round of the Isthmian League Cup on Wednesday.
Town, who won the League Cup last season by beating Tilbury in the final, are now away to Hendon in the second round on November 9 and will continue to be drawn away until the semi-finals.
But they have nothing to fear if they can maintain their present form.
Slough started like an express train and caught Oxford cold with a first minute goal. Little Dave Russell pounced to head home following a corner by Gane.
Oxford could not cope and a frustrated Tucker twice resorted to fouling Lee which brought him a booking. It was from Davies's 31st minute free kick that Slough got their second goal, Somers nodding the ball back for Lee to head past keeper Middlebrook.
Three minutes later it was three nil. Somers, who had been making his presence felt in the air, showed his worth on the ground by bursting through the middle past two sluggish defenders to hammer in a bullet like shot.
Hans van den Berg, who had come into the Slough side in midfield as Underwood was injured, almost got in on the scoring act in the 42nd minute but Middlebrook tipped away his full blooded drive.
Oxford showed a considerable improvement in the early stages of the second half and Porter had to make superb saves from Buck and Gilligan.
With 67 minutes gone Oxford brought on substitute Massey for Atherton and soon afterwards Slough swopped Brown for Somers.
Oxford continued to create some good chances and Buck somehow contrived to slam the ball over an open goal from five yards out.
Slough now sprang to life and grabbed a fourth goal. Gane fed Turl who crossed from the right for Brown to turn the ball home.
Four minutes from the end Brown struck again. Turl pushed the ball inside a defender and went round him on the outside to hammer over another pin-point cross for Brown to side-foot in.
