The fact of Chesham town having beaten Slough in the semi-final of the Berks and Bucks cup a fortnight ago by two goals to one lent additional interest to this Berks and Bucks league match at the Dolphin ground, Slough, on Saturday, and there was a very large attendance.

Slough had full-strength out but Chesham came without F. J. Wallington, W. Mayo, and G. H. Jacques, P. Keen one of the usual forwards taking Wallington's place in goal.

Chesham won the toss and elected to take advantage of half a Gale, which was blowing obliquely across the field, but half an hour had elapsed before they found the net, H. D. Smith, Slough's right half having the misfortune to head through his own goal in endeavouring to get away a fine centre by Goodyer .

Directly after Werrell allowed a long shot from Hodgkinson to go between his legs, and Chesham crossed over with a lead of 2 to 0.

In the second half Slough compelled Chesham to act entirely on the defensive; in fact, the visitors did not even secure so much as a by.

But so sound was the Chesham defence, that Slough could only score once, Algy Smith converting a centre by right with a clever overhead kick, and Slough retire defeated by 2 to 1, precisely similar score to that of the cup tie.

Chesham United Lineup
