The postponed tie between these clubs in the Berks and Bucks challenge cup was played on the Crown ground at Marlow on Saturday. The clubs had met twice this season in cup ties, the Slough team having ousted the Riverside team from both the football Association cup and the amateur cup.
The turf was heavy on the attendance only moderate. L. J. Sellman, the home captain, was unable to play, whilst A. Summersby was an absentee from the visitors ranks.
A very even game was witnessed in the score 4 to 1 in favour of Slough was hardly a correct index of the game.
Marlow faced the slope in the first half and Gale scored a pretty goal, but was ruled offside. Then Slough retaliated and from a corner kick, Ivall cleverly headed through.
Just before the interval Benning put through his own goal trying to clear from a Smith shot, and this enabled Slough to lead by two goals to nil at the interval.
Marlow played up strongly in the second half. Shipton scored a good goal and the locals looked like making the scores level. They failed to stay and in the closing stages Smith and Padwick added goals, with the result that the cup holders won a good match by four goals to one.
