When only seven minutes of this game at Maidenhead had been played the home team lost the services of Richens, their goalkeeper. But Slough failed to take advantage of their good fortune, and although only facing 10 men were never able to gain the mastery.

The luck of the he game ran with Maidenhead, but they were the more classical side of the two. Slough had more of the game territorially, but their shooting was weak. Slough had to make six changes, owing to the inability of Morris to play, and the failure to secure the services of Melia.

Maidenhead owed much of their success to the cleverness of Copas and Allum in their forward line and to the brilliance of Palmley, Hampshire and Snow at half back. Payne and Evans, although not up to their early season form, were the two outstanding Slough men, and they did splendidly to partially hold Copas and Allum. Marshall also played well, but the Slough half backs did not compare favourably with those of the home team, although Foster played with good spirit all through. Apart from some good work by J. A. Ward, and occasional bursts by Harmon, little was seen of the Slough forward line – Morgan having a bad day.

Although Slough did most of the attacking in the first half, the home forwards were the more dangerous. One fine shot from J. A. Ward hit the woodwork of the home goal, but just before half-time, Allum gave Maidenhead an undeserved lead .

Within five minutes of the resumption, J. A. Ward scored a good goal to equalise for Slough, but in spite of this the visitors could not get together. Again the woodwork of the home goal was hit - this time by Harman but Slough were on the defensive far the last 20 minutes, and it was no surprise when Allum scored the winning goal for Maidenhead.
