Slough Town continued their strong pre-season form with a convincing 4-1 victory away at Hanwell Town, with goals from Tyrique Clarke, Josh Adepoju, and two trialists sealing the win.

The Rebels made a sharp start to the early 1pm kick-off and nearly went ahead within ten minutes when Reiss Greenidge headed a Henry Ochieng free-kick across goal to Jordan Greenidge, who fired over from close range.

Slough’s early pressure continued as Jared Myers delivered a dangerous ball across the six-yard box, only for a Hanwell defender to get a crucial touch to deny a tap-in.

A lively and competitive opening saw strong tackles from both sides, but Slough were the ones to break the deadlock. Myers again caused problems down the right and pulled the ball back for Tyrique Clarke, who coolly side-footed into the bottom corner on 21 minutes.

Myers soon went close himself with a low drive after a direct run from deep, before Hanwell settled into the game with some spells of possession. Brian Nelson impressed in midfield with some composed defending as the home side tried to find openings.

After the break, Jordan Greenidge came closest to doubling the lead, striking the post after meeting a cross from Peter Ojemen. Shortly after, manager Scott Davies made a flurry of changes to get more minutes into the squad.

Slough’s dominance resumed midway through the second half. Trialist C was fouled on the edge of the box, and from the resulting free-kick the ball fell kindly to Josh Adepoju, who calmly slotted into the bottom corner for 2-0.

Just minutes later, Slough added a third. Goalkeeper Desbois started a swift counter with a precise pass out to Trialist A, who drove forward and delivered a pinpoint low ball for Trialist B to tap in.

Hanwell responded with a spell of pressure and were unlucky not to score as they struck the crossbar. But Slough put the result beyond doubt with a fourth goal on 88 minutes. Trialist C was again fouled, this time inside the area, and he confidently dispatched the penalty himself to make it 4-0.

There was time for a late consolation for the hosts in the closing moments, but it did little to take the shine off a dominant second-half display from the Rebels.

Scott Davies’ side now face two challenging tests to conclude pre-season, with a home fixture against National League side Southend United on Tuesday evening, followed by a trip to Wealdstone.
