Slough Town’s hopes of a first appearance in the Fifth Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy for 20 years were dashed at Aggborough as Kidderminster Harriers ran out comfortable winners.

An Ashley Hemmings hat-trick and another from Maz Kouhyar were enough to seal a one-sided success for Harriers, the tie all but over at half time with the score at 3-0.

David Davis had the game’s first chance for Kidderminster with a well-taken effort as the ball landed to him on the edge of the area, but he pulled his effort wide of the target.

Hemmings made no mistake on the quarter hour mark though, tucking the ball past Charlie Horlock at the near post from Jim Kellermann’s cross.

Kidderminster had to wait just six minutes for the second goal to arrive, and again it was Hemmings on target. Encouraged by his first strike, he picked the ball up ten yards into the Slough half as a clearance from Christian Dibble was flicked on. He drove forward with space ahead of him, picking his spot and finishing superbly past Horlock again, punishing the Rebels for playing a high defensive line.

Slough looked to respond minutes later with a Scott Davies free kick 25 yards out, but the player/manager whipped his effort just wide of the post.

Harriers continued to pour forward in search of more goals, and Hemmings sent an acrobatic effort over the bar before Kellermann fired over from Thompson’s cross.

But Slough found themselves three down at the break as another wave of home pressure paid off. Kouhyar was initially thwarted by a good save from Horlock but made no mistake seconds later with a tidy finish low into the net after a simple pass played him through on goal.

A triple change at the interval saw Dan Roth, David Ogbonna and Sam Evans introduced, but normal service resumed with the hosts looking for more goals. Hemmings, with his back to goal, tried an inventive backheeled effort on 51 minutes, but Horlock blocked the attempt.

Three minutes later, Harriers had their fourth. Reiss McNally won possession and played the ball forward between the Rebels centre-backs for Hemmings, who kept his cool to slide the ball past Horlock for a third time to complete his hat-trick.

Slough’s clearest chance of the game came with 70 minutes played, as Christian Dibble was forced into a save from Johnny Goddard, who then had a second chance to score from close range, but he saw his shot cannon back off the crossbar.

There was to be no consolation goal for the 222 Slough Town supporters in attendance, despite a late surging run and shot from Leon Parillon, which was comfortably held by Dibble.

The Rebels return to league action on Saturday with a trip to Hemel Hempstead Town.
