At the Dolphin ground, Slough, on Christmas morning, met Maidenhead for League points, before a good crowd, and a good hard game was witnessed in which Slough ultimately triumphed by the odd goal in five.
Slough attacked at the outset, and after nine minutes play, Mountenay opened the scoring with an overhead shot after Marcham had stopped a hot shot from Hing.
Ten minutes later Hing, when in the act of shooting, was brought down in the penalty area by Marcham and from the spot-kick Norris put Slough further ahead.
But Maidenhead did not take matters lying down and a fine run by J. Laurie ended with a shot which Luff failed to clear, and Pearce netted after a tussle. At the interval, Slough led by 2 goals to 1.
Maidenhead were first to score in the second half, and Pearce was again the successful marksman, he taking advantage of a partial clearance by Luff following a good run and shot by Rose, and thereafter ensued a fierce struggle for the winning goal by both sides.
Baldwin twice tested Hart, and Norris headed wide, while at the other end Strickland and Laurie gave Luff some hot drives to deal with.
But four minutes from time, Norris finished some good passing by the home forwards by steering the ball well clear of Hart, giving Slough the victory by the odd goal in five.
