Slough Town continued their pre-season campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory over Amersham Town on a wet Tuesday evening at Spratleys Meadows.

This was Slough’s second pre-season outing, building on their win against Virginia Water last Friday.

The Rebels wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with Gary Abisogun opening the scoring in the first attack of the match. Abisogun’s intelligent run was matched by a composed finish into the bottom corner, giving Slough an ideal start inside two minutes.

The early goal set the tone, and Slough doubled their advantage in the 19th minute. Persistent pressure culminated in John Ufuah’s low effort from the edge of the box, which took a slight deflection before nestling into the net.

Five minutes later, Abisogun turned provider with a pinpoint cross that found Slavi Spasov. The forward’s header, aided by the post, made it 3-0 and left the hosts reeling. Spasov was at it again before the break, displaying excellent control and patience in the box to notch his second goal of the night, assisted by Ufuah.

Slough’s fluid first-half performance, capped by goals from Abisogun, Ufuah, and a brace from Spasov, saw them head into the interval with a commanding 4-0 lead.

The second half saw Slough introduce an entirely new lineup, including several trialists looking to make their mark. One of these trialists made an immediate impact, scoring with a sweet volley just seconds after the restart to extend Slough's lead to 5-0.

Despite the wet conditions, Slough's attacking prowess continued to trouble Amersham. However, the hosts managed to pull one back in the 58th minute during a goalmouth scramble, resulting in an easy tap-in.

The remainder of the half was relatively quiet compared to the first, with Slough maintaining control and creating a few more opportunities without adding to their tally. The trialists and younger players used the game time to showcase their abilities and stake a claim for future inclusion.

As the final whistle blew, Slough emerged with an emphatic 5-1 win, with a trip to Bristol Manor Farm next up on Saturday afternoon.
