A frustrating afternoon for Slough Town ended in a draw as a late Michael Folivi equaliser cancelled out first half strikes from Daniel Bayliss and Nathan Minhas, writes Freddie Gatrell.
In what was a slow start for the Rebels, Farnborough took no time at all to open the scoring, with Farnborough’s Folivi firing low and hard into the bottom left corner from close range in the 7th minute.
This early strike appeared to awaken Scott Davies’ men from their slumber, with parity restored in the 14th minute. An in-swinging Matt Lench free kick found the unmarked Bayliss alone at the back post, with the defender firing back past Turner to make it 1-1 in a frantic start to the game.
Minhas put the Rebels back into the driving seat in the 22nd minute, after electric wing play from David Ogbonna found the feet of an arriving Minhas at the back post, who calmly slotted home past Turner from close range, much to the delight of the Arbour Park faithful.
Slough continued to dominate play for the remainder of the first half, with Farnborough looking off colour and in need of the half time whistle.
Boro came out a much-improved outfit in the second period, with the Rebels looking a lot less comfortable in possession, giving the ball away cheaply to the visitors. Efforts from Munashe Sundire and Bayliss both fired wide of Farnborough’s goal, with Slough unable to muster up a third goal, which would likely have been enough for all three points.
This lack of conviction in front of goal was punished ten minutes from time, with a second strike from close range from Folivi in the 80th minute leaving the Rebels frustrated for the remainder of the match.
This point leaves Slough Town in 20th place in the National League South table with 23 points, whilst Farnborough move up to 11th. This result also sees the Rebels extend their unbeaten home record to 11 matches, which will be a big positive for Scott Davies and his side ahead of Tuesday night’s home game against Hemel Hempstead Town.
