Slough Town’s pre-season preparations continued with another 90 minutes in the hot late morning sun at Arbour Park, against National League side Aldershot Town.

The Shots had the better of the opening exchanges, with Justin Amaluzor and a trialist coming close. Soon after, Jaden Harris crossed into the middle where Edon Pruti unfortunately turned the ball into his own net.

Slough enjoyed their best spell of the game, Ben Harris going closest as he attempted a lob from distance on 32 minutes, but neither side was able to find a path to goal – Aldershot’s Joe Partington going closest with a fierce effort which was held by Rhys Forster.

Aldershot threatened again as the first half drew to a close. Amaluzor’s effort was saved, before Inih Effiong headed the rebound onto the crossbar.

The visitors struck again in the 52nd minute after a well-worked move. Jaden Harris played a slick one-two and went one-on-one with Forster before slotting the ball low into the bottom right corner.

Five minutes later, it was three thanks to a solo effort from Tommy Willard, who latched on to a through ball and drove into the box before beating Forster.

The dominant Aldershot side took advantage of the opportunity to make numerous changes and had other chances to add to the score, but failed to convert them.

Next for the Rebels is another home match against Oxford United on Wednesday evening.
