Phil Stacey was sent off and Alan Davies had to restrain his players as tempers frayed and fists flew at the end of Slough's disappointing defeat at Sammy Mcllroy's Northwich Victoria on Tuesday night.
The flash point came into injury time at the end of a game Slough should not have lost, when Stacey brought down Mark Jones with a tackle from behind. The Northwich forward immediately retaliated and players from both sides joined in. Stacey got his marching orders, Jones was booked, the two managers resumed their position on the bench and within 30 seconds the referee signalled the end of the game.
A crowd of under 500 had seen Slough start brightly in a hectic first 10 minutes, with Neal Stanley again their outstanding performer going close on two occasions โ worse was to come for the Wexham Park striker however.
Whitby wanted too much time in front of goal while at the other end Blain shot just over from all of 30 yards. A minute later Watkins leapt to palm O'Gorman's curling effort around the post and for Slough Stanley had his shot kicked off the line.
He had his revenge โof sorts โ when with Watkiss beaten he kicked a shot from Blain off the Slough line on 11 minutes.
Midway through the half Fielder's cross fell perfectly for Knight but he miscued and the ball bounced clear off a defender.
Three minutes after the interval poor Stanley had the misfortune to head Fielder's excellent free kick against the cross bar and from Slough's next corner Steve Scott headed just over.
Slough were made to pay for their misses. Watkiss parried O'Connor's 53rd minute shot but Blain followed up to score.
Berryman denied Stanley an equaliser and Northwich broke to double their advantage when Watkiss saved from O'Gorman but O'Connor was first to the loose ball.
Nine minutes from time Hill was caught in possession and when the ball broke to O'Connor he wasted no time in dispatching a third goal.
