Slack defending and ineffective finishing ended the Rebels' AC Delco Cup interest on Wednesday night.
Alan Mullery's Division One side took full advantage of a below-par Slough performance to produce one of the biggest shocks in this week's first round ties.
Gary Dodd and Tony Dennis were starting their first senior games for Slough in place of Keith White and Kenny Wilson, and they got the visitors off to a cracking start with a goal in just six minutes. Neat play led to a cross from Dennis, which Dodd slipped in for 1-0.
But the first of the Rebels defensive aberrations led to an equaliser within just two minutes. Tony Knight's weak backpass was telegraphed by Mark Dunk and he went past Bunting to put the Sussex side level.
Slough were very much on top though and Brown, Wanklyn and Dennis all had efforts cleared off the line in the first period.
In a game littered with petty fouls, Rollings was cautioned for pulling Neal Stanley's shirt and manager Mullery was also spoken to by the referee after a fracas with a linesman.
But Slough paid for not taking their chances, and the underdogs struck twice in two minutes before half time.
First, Jacobs was caught in possession by Mark Searle and despite the attentions of Knight and Woodcraft, he netted past the stranded Bunting.
Then more lax play allowed Mark Croft to pick his spot with a cross-shot for a two-goal lead that Southwick didn't deserve. The Rebels pressured to try and get back in the hunt, but simply couldn't turn their possession into goals. And their short passing game didn't suit the occasion.
So just as last season when Basildon did the damage, the Rebels have been knocked out of the Delco by a Division One outfit.
