A replay date for Slough's GMAC Cup tie with the Vauxhall Conference high-flyers has still not been set and the winners' reward home match against Yeovil has to be played in the first week in the New Year.
The non-league Super Cup has proved to be little more than an impediment in the clubs' fixture lists, so far, and both sides were hardly over enthusiastic about having to play their thrice-postponed tie at Wexham Park last Thursday.
And the crowd of 310 for the hastily-arranged fixture hardly suggested they were too keen about the new competition either. Gladly though, those that did turn up were rewarded with a good, open game, with Slough giving a much improved performance after disappointingly going out of the FA Trophy at Tooting only 48 hours earlier.
Jimmy Brown had a foot injury and was demoted to sub, while Chris Wheatley came into defence. The lively Ken Wilson gave Slough a deserved lead, but deep into injury time, Mick Jordan equalised for the Gloucestershire side, which was clearly second best in the opening half.
Three minutes into the second half, Paul Waites put the Rebels in front again, converting a penalty after he had been brought down. But Boyland and Willetts combined for a second equaliser on the hour.
