SLOUGH Town shook off the effects of three successive defeats when they produced their best form of the season on Tuesday to hold Isthmian League leaders Dulwich to a draw.
Manager Joe Arpino bravely included three teenage reserves in his side in Rowan Dodds, Joe Maloney and Steve Norman and they all made useful contributions - although Norman was a little hesitant - as Slough put an end to their disastrous run.
Dodds, preferred to late arrival Peter Feely, showed plenty of endeavour and outshone fellow striker Barry Metcalfe, who seldom looked like scoring. But despite that, Slough dominated for long spells.
Dulwich suffered an early blow when they lost Martin Lewis with concussion, and substitute Denton eventually replaced him in the 28th minute.
The visitors were further unsettled by some persistent Slough attacks, and two minutes later Paul and was booked for a foul on Metcalfe. But Chris Lewington changed the pattern of the game when, against the run of play, he thumped Dulwich ahead in the 33rd minute with a low 25 yard drive.
Now it was Slough's turn to become ruffled and Metcalfe was booked for a foul but they took heart from a fine run by Dodds who beat two men before having the ball snatched from his feet by keeper Bowtell. Edwards was hurt in attempting to stop Dodds and had to go off for four minutes to have treatment to a cut head which required stitches at halftime.
The second-half was only a minute old when Edwards had another ache to nurse after a clash of heads with Dodds.
Slough pressed hard for an equaliser and should have got one in the 55th minute but after Turl had knocked on Cooke's well flighted corner, Metcalfe somehow managed to send the ball over an unguarded net. Two minutes later Metcalfe almost made amends when he headed Friend’s hard cross narrowly wide.
The equaliser eventually came from Alan Gane in the 63rd minute. Metcalfe kept the ball in play and Turl's cross from the right was deflected to Gane who slammed it firmly home.
Keeper Bowtell then rescued Dulwich by turning over a close range shot from Dodds and helping to block a vicious drive from the menacing Friend.
Dulwich bounced back into the picture in the latter stages when Bayram fired just the wrong side of the right hand upright and James shot over from 15 yards. But Slough were full of fight now and went equally close through Mackay and the lively Dodds.
