Slough Town, unbeaten in their previous seven games, crashed out of the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup in Saturday's semi-final replay after being ‘robbed’ of a last minute penalty.
Paul Lee knocked the ball past keeper Maskell who brought the Slough striker down as he was about to equalise. But referee E. P. Tilley of Swindon rejected Town's penalty appeals.
Slough manager Joe Arpino stormed: "It was an obvious penalty, and we should have had another earlier for 'hands'. I found many of the referee's decisions puzzling."
But Wycombe looked the more impressive side and deservedly went through to the final against Hungerford at Marlow on Easter Monday.
Wycombe were in the driving seat in the first-half when they had the wind behind them, and after Kennedy had brought a diving save from keeper Teale, Reed shot just wide.
Slough, with Barry Metcalfe struggling and Paul Lee handicapped by a hamstring injury, could not produce enough bite up front but Mick Kiely went near to scoring following a Gane free-kick.
Wycombe returned to the attack and took the lead in the 26th minute. A collision caused the ball to elude Cooke and Kennedy sent it into the penalty area where it was deflected to Terry Scott whose right footed shot gave Teale no chance.
Long could have increased this lead but fired over from close range.
The second-half saw Slough push forward and Maskell had to pull off a great save to keep out Friend's shot. From Friend's resultant corner Metcalfe brought some more acrobatics from Maskell with a fine header.
When Wycombe regained their momentum Birdseye went through to bring a full length save from Teale. Soon afterwards Atkins beat Mackay and shot past Teale, only to see Gane get back and divert the ball against the underside of the bar. From the rebound Kennedy shot against the diving Teale and then Holifield had a shot blocked by Cooke.
With 11 minutes left, Slough took off Metcalfe and brought on young Steve Norman in midfield. This withdrawal of a forward seemed a little strange but it did enable the lively Friend to push up. Kiely just failed to reach a good cross from Norman and Cooke was off target as Slough searched for an equaliser but they left themselves 'open' at the back and Long missed two fine chances to increase Wycombe's lead.
