SLOUGH went out of the Hitachi Cup to the Division One leaders Harrow, which may be an advantage with the fixture position likely to get more congested.
Joe Arpino introduced Barry Metcalf to the forward line in place of Paul Lee.
A goal-less first half saw attractive football from both sides, with Slough gradually gaining the initiative. This was maintained at the start of the second half, but brought no goals.
A disputed penalty broke the deadlock to give Harrow the lead, and although Slough threw everything into attack it was Harrow who had the last word with a second goal from Caines.
The match had previously been abandoned weeks before, on Tuesday 5 December, with the score at 3-2 to Harrow.
THE FOG saved Slough at Harrow when their Berger Isthmian League Cup-tie was abandoned ten minutes from time when the Rebels were trailing 3-2.
The shut-down had been threatened from the start but when the referee called a halt it was impossible to see either goal from the half-way line. After Saturday's great Slough triumph over league champions Enfield, Tuesday's display was disappointing, but Slough were without Turl, Strong and Metcalfe, and Underwood went off inured during the game.
Harrow Borough are doing very well in Division 1 of the Berger Isthmian League and from the start they made it perfectly clear they meant to rise to the occasion against Saturday's conquerors of Enfield.
Inside three minutes Harrow were in front when Sharratt took advantage of a muddle in the Slough rearguard to beat Teale and pushed forward to good purpose, equalising in the 15th minute when Keily flicked the ball on to Lee who scored.
Five minutes before half-time Foster gave Harrow the lead again following a free kick. By this time the fog was getting thick but the referee decided to start the second half and ten minutes into the half Sharratt scored Harrow's third goal.
However, Slough were not done with. They set up some strong attacks and scored their second goal when Feely headed home a well-placed Gane corner. It was soon after this that the referee decided enough was enough and abandoned the game.
