After a bright start things got steadily worse and the second-half was completely negative, with Slough unable to show enough flair or inventiveness to overcome Wycombe's defensive play.
Both sides can consider themselves lucky they have not been reported under the Trades Description Act for calling this non-event a football match! Slough's frustrated manager Joe Arpino said: "Wycombe's spoiling tactics and petty fouls broke up our rhythm. We didn't show enough variety and the spectators suffered."
Early play was very frenzied, as might be expected in a local derby, with Slough pushing forward and Metcalfe troubling Spittle with a header that the ex-Slough keeper could only paw away.
But Slough did not seriously worry Spittle again until the 38th minute. Then Gane's freekick led to Lee knocking the ball into the side netting.
Wycombe's best first-half effort was a low free-kick from Kennedy which Teale did well to smother in the 23rd minute. Another dead ball move - an indirect free-kick inside the Slough penalty area - saw Holifield’s back-heeled pass lobbed over the bar by Long.
Far too many errors were being made by both sides and in the second-half things got worse, with players showing plenty of aggression but little imagination. It was 19 minutes before the crowd were treated to a worthwhile shot and then Russell's stinging drive was pushed away by Spittle.
Friend produced one rare moment of brilliance when he ghosted past two defenders to cross from the left. Unfortunately, Gane's shot lacked power or accuracy.
The last chance fell to Wycombe but in keeping with the earlier play they missed it by a mile, Allanson hooking the ball yards over the bar.
