Bio

Outside Right/Inside Right. Born 1942 at Twyford. Moved to Slough when just two years old.

Former Slough Grammar pupil and graduate of Southampton University whose exceptional turn of speed and hard shot served him well in both the outside and inside right positions.

He played for the School first eleven in company with fellow Rebels Bobby Dearlove, John Ford and Ken Wallis. From the Grammar School he graduated to Southampton University where he took a degree in chemistry, and also found time to score 100 goals in the two and a half years in which he played for the University football team.

After a few games in the reserves, he was promoted to the first eleven. He has played at inside forward but mostly on the wing, where he is at his best. It doesn't matter which wing as he is a genuine two footed player.

Scored a memorable solo goal against Skelmersdale United in the home FA Amateur Cup Quarter Final in February 1967. Moved on to Hayes in the summer of 1969 and later played for Maidenhead United.

Bob was also a keen and good athlete, being a member of Maidenhead A.C. He also found time to play a few rounds of golf. Worked as a Development Chemist for Aspro Nicholas.

Bobby was among Britain's top ten sprinters at 21 years of age but gave it up soon after joining the Rebels. Athletics loss has been Slough’s gain. Although Bob has no professional ambitions, he prefers Chelsea as a team to watch.
