Bert French

Bert French Position: Defender

Bio

GENERALLY reckoned to be one of the best captures made by Len Townsend during his managership with Slough is the first-team centre-half, Bert French, who joined the club just before Christmas.

His quickness in recovery and ability to clear the ball intelligently with either foot has quickly made its mark on the team resulting in a much tighter defence.

Bert was with Hounslow before coming to the Dolphin and during his time in the Army played for the Royal Signals and guested for league club York City.

Bert has not always been a centre-half. At one time he played centre-forward and while at school played for the district and county teams.

An electrical engineer, married and lived in Hanworth. Also appeared for Hounslow Town and Woking.
