Bio

Percy Wakefield was born and educated in Slough, Percy helped form Upton United and Slough Villa in the late 1920's, and in 1930 when he was 19, Percy played his first match for Slough Town.

At that time he was a wing half but a cartilage injury in 1933 forced him to take up goalkeeping and he played for Slough Reserves, Burnham and Windsor & Eton in this position.

He turned to refereeing in 1944 and when he retired in 1953 he had reached the senior middle in the Corinthian League.

For many years he was assistant secretary and later vice-chairman of the Slough Referees Association.
