An online petition has been launched in a bid to help Slough Town Football Club secure a new home in the Borough.

The Rebels plan to make a long-awaited return to Slough with a new stadium at Arbour Vale, but recent intervention from central Government has put this at risk. However, Slough Borough Council is backing the football club's ambitions and has pledged to fight this intervention.

The petition reads: "A proposed development in the heart of Slough to include housing, community sports facilities and a home for Slough Town Football Club is in danger of collapse following interference from Central Government.

"The Department of Education (DofE) are looking to site a new school on the proposed development site, despite a perfectly acceptable alternative already having been earmarked in Stoke Poges.

"We want the Government to stop their influence and allow the Local Council, elected by local people, to proceed with the development that the local people want rather than forcing a school that is not wanted in another borough onto the people of Slough."

The intervention potentially jeopardises the club's return to the Borough and with the great work already being done with the youth setup and the Academy, the club wants to continue to build strong links with the town we represent.

Years of hard work have gone into the proposed development and we cannot now let this opportunity be snatched away.

Please sign and spread the word to others to show support to the club in its attempts to return home.
