MATCH PREVIEW: Tonbridge Angels v Slough Town
Enterprise National League South – Saturday 9th August 2025, 3:00pm KO
The Yeomans Community Stadium, Tonbridge
The wait is over. The 2025/26 Enterprise National League South season kicks off this Saturday as Slough Town travel to Tonbridge Angels for what promises to be a fiercely contested and fascinating opening-day encounter.
A Fresh Start for Both Sides
There was virtually nothing between these two clubs last season, with both finishing level on points. Slough secured 16th place, just one position above Tonbridge in 17th, separated only by goal difference.
Both sides begin the new campaign with a desire to move forward, but for Tonbridge Angels, this match also marks the beginning of a new era. The club’s ground has officially been renamed The Yeomans Community Stadium, while Craig Nelson takes charge of his first competitive fixture as manager. He leads a squad that has seen significant change over the summer.
Slough Town, now entering their eighth consecutive season at this level, continue under the leadership of Scott Davies, who begins his third full season at the helm. Among the many summer signings is striker Jordan Greenidge, a former Tonbridge player, who will be eager to make an impression on familiar turf.
Last Season
The two clubs traded victories last season. Slough claimed a 3-1 win at Arbour Park in October 2024, while Tonbridge responded in January with a 3-1 win of their own. That game was decided by late drama, as Harry Ottaway and Trevan Robinson both scored late on following an earlier equaliser from Francis Amartey, after Taylor Maloney had opened the scoring.
National League South Experience
Slough Town earned promotion to National League South level in 2018. Tonbridge Angels start their seventh consecutive season in the division, following their own promotion in 2019. Both clubs have proven themselves to be resilient fixtures at Step 2, and both will be eager to climb higher this year.
