Slough Town Football Club can today confirm that, after nine unforgettable years and over 300 first-team appearances, our club captain Josh Jackman will be leaving at the end of the season.

Josh joined the Rebels in the summer of 2016 and quickly became a cornerstone of the team — not just through his performances on the pitch, but through his leadership, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to the badge. He played a key role in our promotion to the National League South in 2017/18 and has been a constant presence in some of the club’s most memorable moments of the past decade.

From thunderous long-range strikes against Dartford and Maidstone, to his unforgettable equaliser against Worthing with nine men on the pitch, Josh gave us moments that will live long in the memory. His stunning goal against Reading in the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Cup final not only showcased his quality, but also ended a 38-year wait for that piece of silverware — a night that cemented his place in club history.

When Scott Davies became manager, Josh took on the armband with humility and pride, continuing to lead by example week in, week out. Earlier this year, he passed the remarkable milestone of 300 appearances — a testament to his consistency, resilience, and importance to Slough Town.

Over the years, he has earned a number of individual accolades, including Managers’ Player of the Season (2021/22), Players’ Player of the Season (2022/23), and even a share of the Golden Boot in 2022/23 — a rare achievement for a defender, highlighting his eye for goal.

But Josh’s impact extends far beyond stats and awards. He has been a role model for younger players, a leader in the dressing room, and someone who always gave everything for the shirt. His presence on and off the field will be sorely missed, and his legacy as one of the club’s greats is already secured.

Josh leaves Slough Town with the admiration, gratitude, and best wishes of everyone at the club. We thank him for everything — for every tackle, every goal, every word of encouragement, and every moment of inspiration. Once a Rebel, always a Rebel.

Manager, Scott Davies commented on Josh’s decision:

“Josh informed me a few weeks ago that he’s decided it was time for him to move on. With his wedding next year, add to that a stag do and honeymoon, he said that the commitment needed for National League South was going to be a struggle with trying to fit everything in.

“I’m gutted that he will be leaving but also thrilled that I’ve been able to share a changing room, play alongside and now manage someone who I hold in such high regard as a person and a footballer.

“From day one of meeting Josh and not really knowing who he was, it’s fair to say that his attitude has been exemplary and one that everyone else can and has learnt from over that period of time.

“I could probably count on one hand the amount of below par performances Josh has had during his 300+ games. It’s fair to say he’s been Mr. Consistent over the course of the past nine years.

“We will certainly miss Josh as our club captain but I’m glad that he’s leaving on his terms and when it feels right for him.

“I’ll certainly be wishing him well, and I’m sure the rest of the staff, players and supporters at the football club will give him the sendoff that he most definitely deserves.

“Thanks for being a Rebel, Joshy! Good luck with the wedding and we’ll see you back for a game at Arbour Park soon.

“Go well mate,

Scotty!”

CEO, Ashley Smith had the following to say on Josh’s contribution:

“It is with great admiration and heartfelt gratitude that we say farewell to our club captain, Josh Jackman.

“Josh’s departure marks the end of a truly remarkable chapter in Slough Town’s story. Since joining us, Josh has epitomised everything it means to wear the badge—with pride, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the team and community.

“Reaching the landmark of 300 appearances is no small feat. It stands as a testament not just to his ability and consistency as a player, but also to his loyalty, professionalism, and resilience. Week in, week out, Josh has given everything for this club. His leadership on the pitch has been instrumental, and his conduct off it has been equally exemplary.

“Beyond his athletic talents, Josh is a genuinely outstanding person. He has been a role model for younger players and a credit to our club in every sense. His presence in the dressing room, on the training ground, and among the fans will be sorely missed.

“Josh, thank you for your years of incredible service. You leave with our utmost respect and sincere appreciation. Wherever your journey takes you next, you’ll always have a home at Slough Town.”
