Knife crime is one of the fastest-growing categories of crime, with reports rising rapidly across the country. Slough ranks among the top three towns in Berkshire for year-on-year increases in knife-related incidents.
Slough Town Football Club is proud to support local organisations raising awareness during Anti-Knife Crime Week, running from 11th to 17th November. Many dedicated groups work to protect young people by focusing on prevention, support, and guidance to steer them away from knife crime.
To understand the issue, it’s important to know what constitutes "knife crime":
• Carrying a knife or blade of any kind
• Possessing a banned knife
• Buying a knife if under 18
• Threatening or harming someone with a knife or any offensive weapon
• An offensive weapon is defined as any item that has been created or adapted with the intent to cause harm to another person.
Organisations actively addressing knife crime in the community include Safer Slough, Parents for Peace, and Mothers Together.
One event we want to highlight is the ‘Walk Against Knife Crime’, organised by Mothers Together. This walk will take place on Saturday, 16th November, beginning at 12:00 pm. Participants will start at Harvey Park in Langley and end at the Peace Garden at Langley Pavilion. The walk is expected to take around 45 minutes.
