We are pleased to announce the loan signing of 23-year-old defender Louis Lomas from National League side Braintree Town for 28 days.
Lomas, who can operate at left-back, centre back or right-back, will be familiar to Rebels supporters, having spent time at Arbour Park on loan from Norwich City back in the 2020/21 season. He made 14 appearances before returning to Norwich when the COVID-19 pandemic caused the curtailment of the National League season.
Louis then joined National League North side Brackley Town on a free transfer in the summer of 2021. He enjoyed an excellent year as the Saints finished as runners-up, while being included in the Team of the Season at the end of the campaign. His performances earned him a move to Southend United, making the step up to the National League and back into full time football. He made 22 appearances in his first season, but his time at Roots Hall was hampered by injury and after his departure earlier this year, he signed for the newly promoted Braintree Town in June.
Manager, Scott Davies commented: “It’s great to have Louis on board with us for the next 28 days. Since last being on loan at Slough he’s had some real highs and more recently some tricky times too because of injury, but hopefully that’s all in the past and we can help get his career moving in an upward direction once again.
