“He’s a great age with fantastic experience at many different levels and I’m sure he will be a great addition to the side.”
Scott Davies
We are pleased to announce the signing of 25-year-old midfielder Henry Ochieng.
Henry joined West Ham United's youth team in 2009. In 2015, he secured a scholarship with Leyton Orient, making his debut in November 2016. After 12 appearances, he was released in March 2018. He then had spells at Braintree Town, Welwyn Garden City and Wingate & Finchley before a transfer to Irish side Cork City in January 2020.
A transfer to Watford's U23 team followed, before moves to Billericay Town in December 2021 (21 apps), then Chelmsford City in July 2022 (27 apps, 1 goal). In February 2023, he joined Aldershot Town (10 apps) before returning to Chelmsford City in October 2023 (31 apps). He left the Clarets at the end of the 2023/24 season, which saw the club finish as runners-up in National League South.
Henry also received a call-up for Kenya's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone, but the match was cancelled. He did however make his debut for the Kenya U23 team against Mauritius in November 2018 in the 2019 Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualification.
Manager, Scott Davies had the following to say: “I first spoke with Henry on the 30th April to see what his plans were, so it’s fair to say that it’s taken a long time to get him over the line, but I think it’s well worth the wait.
“Since we’ve lost Nashy (Munashe Sundire) in that defensive midfield role, we’ve never really been able to replace him with the right person, but I think Henry’s attributes fit the bill perfectly.
“He’s a great age with fantastic experience at many different levels and I’m sure he will be a great addition to the side.”
