I’ve followed Slough for a number of years now and can see the continued growth in the club... who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

We are delighted to announce the signing of 29-year-old goalkeeper Charlie Horlock.

Charlie joins after making a total of 273 appearances for Southern League side Hitchin Town in two spells, after initially moving to the Hertfordshire club in November 2014.

He started his career at Wycombe Wanderers before spells at Stevenage, Harrow Borough and Hendon. Horlock moved to Hitchin and made 87 appearances in what was initially a loan deal. After two seasons, Eastbourne Borough swooped; Charlie spent a year there before moving east along the coast to Hastings United in late 2017. Horlock returned to Hitchin for the 2019/20 season, where he remained until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Charlie, who lives in Wycombe and works as a PE teacher there, also managed to register his first career goal last November, as Hitchin defeated Halesowen Town – also saving a penalty late in the match.

Manager, Scott Davies was delighted to secure Charlie’s signature: “It’s great to have Charlie on board with us. Charlie is someone that I’ve known for a very long time and is a player that people speak extremely highly of as a person and a professional.

“Having played just shy of 300 games at Step 3 with Hitchin Town, he joins with great experience and will provide good competition in the goalkeeping department with Hugo Sobte.

“With Charlie being 29, and living locally it seems like a great fit to bring him to the club. We did consider the loan market but we believe we have two more than capable keepers to choose from.”

Charlie had the following message to supporters: “As soon as Slough became a potential option to sign for, it went straight to the top of my list and I made it a priority.

“Living locally, I’ve followed Slough for a number of years now and can see the continued growth in the club... who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

“Since looking more closely at the club, I’ve genuinely only heard great things about the people within it. It is massively important to me to be surrounded by good people and I’m hoping I can only add to that.

“You’ll have my full commitment to the club. When I play, I try to be consistent, reliable and dependable. And my aim is to stabilise the No.1 shirt for the club over a number of years.

“Looking forward to meeting you all!”
