We are delighted to announce the signing of 21-year-old striker Sam Evans on a two-year contract.
Sam joins having scored 16 goals for Hanwell Town last season in Southern League Premier South, and assisted a further eight. Evans previously played for Bedfont, for whom he scored an impressive 16 goals in 35 games despite the club suffering relegation. He started his footballing career with Woking and went on to play for Westfield before joining Bedfont.
Sam had the following message to Rebels supporters: “I’m delighted to be joining Slough Town as it’s a big club with a strong community presence and passionate fanbase. The club is very well known for its commitment to giving young players an opportunity and after speaking to Scott I was sold instantly.
“My goal is to help the team go one better than last season with goals, assists and most importantly hard work.”
Manager, Scott Davies added: “I tried to sign Sam last summer from Bedfont but he chose to go up one level rather than two and ended up signing with my good friends at Hanwell.
“This summer, Sam has been on the radar of many clubs at our level and I’m delighted that he’s chosen us. At 6’3” he will be a focal point for the side, but I know full well he can do both sides of the game with holding the ball up and getting in behind the opposition’s defence.
“Profile wise, Sam fits the bill as he’s a great age, wants to learn and I believe will be a real handful in the National League South. He’s a great finisher and someone I expect the fans to really enjoy watching in a Rebels shirt.
“We thank our friends at Hanwell for their help in getting Sam over the line, as we have had to come to an agreement because of Sam’s age and him turning down at a new deal at their football club.”
