Slough Town Football Club is delighted to be partnering with Thames Hospice to help raise awareness and fundraise for this fantastic local charity. Our game on Saturday 2 March against Bath City will be our nominated charity day with various fundraising activities taking place.

Thames Hospice has proudly been serving the community of East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire since 1987, providing specialist palliative and end of life care services to people aged 16 and over in their own homes and within the Hospice, as well as vital support for their families. Their services are free of charge to all those in the local community who need access to their vital services, but this is only made possible through the charitable support and generosity of the community it serves.

Situated on Windsor Road between Slough and Maidenhead, the Hospice’s highly experienced staff work with patients and their loved ones to develop a complete programme of care tailored to their needs, treating everyone with dignity and respect. They offer a wide range of clinical and therapeutic services, including counselling and bereavement support, complementary therapies, physiotherapy and lymphoedema services.

They also have a café at the Hospice, which serves a delicious selection of hot and cold food and beverages. The café is the ideal place to indulge in a morning treat, lunch or afternoon tea and support the Hospice at the same time, as all profits help fund their care.

Thames Hospice also generates vital income from its 22 charity shops located across the Thames Valley. Members of their retail team will be attending the match and are collecting donations of good quality clothing and accessories to help stock their stores, so you are welcome to bring along your preloved items. Nursing colleagues from their Hospice at Home Team will also be present on the day to chat about their work as well as some of their ambassadors who will be happy to share their own experiences of the care and support they have received from the Hospice.

Fundraising activities on the day will include half time activities for children, post-match activities for adults and Slough Town will also be wearing a one-off kit featuring the colours and logo of Thames Hospice. We will be raffling this kit off at the end of the game; more details will follow.

Community Manager Ade Gomm commented: “It gives us great pleasure to work with this fantastic local charity, which does such fantastic work in our community. We are using this event to raise awareness, letting the residents of Slough know that vital help and support is available for families facing a life-limited diagnosis. There will also be a small group of players and management from the club who will be visiting the Hospice the week before the game to meet the staff and see firsthand the good work they do”.

We would like to thank The National League and our home shirt sponsors, Verus Group, Speedy Freight and Futureproof for their help and support with this one-off kit change.
