We want to improve, guide and assist these lads by making sure that they reach their potential
Scott Davies
Following yesterday’s 6-0 pre-season win against Uxbridge, we are pleased to confirm the addition of three more players to our senior squad ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Scott Davies discusses the signing of David Ogbonna, Leon Chambers-Parillon and Harvey Harry, along with his thoughts on yesterday’s match, in an interview which can be viewed below.
Scott also had the following to say on each player:
“David Ogbonna is someone that’s been on my radar for a number of months now. We actually tried to bring him in earlier in the year but were unable to.
“He’s got pace in abundance which is exciting for us as a squad but also for the fans to watch. Thirty-one goals in the past two seasons whilst playing for Hertford Town shows that’s he’s capable of chipping in with a goal as well, which is an extremely impressive return for a wide man.
“He’s done very well in the three matches that he’s played so far and will give us great competition for places in wide areas. I’m delighted to have him on board.
“I played with Leon Chambers-Parillon when he came to Biggleswade Town on loan from Oxford United a couple of seasons back. During that spell where I played in midfield with him, he really impressed.
“Leon has been unfortunate with injuries but is still a great age, and at 21 I really do feel he’s only going to get better.
“He’s a great athlete, can deal with a football and gives us another option in the middle of the park.
“Harvey Harry has been the ‘last man standing’ in terms of the trialists and that’s credit to him. From the games in which he’s played I think he’s got better and better.
“Having played for Binfield last season, the plan was to dual register him with a Step 3 club to further his development, but after his performance on Saturday against Uxbridge he’s now got us thinking that he could be a great asset to have in the squad.
“We will have to manage Harvey as best we can to make sure that he continues to develop and doesn’t stand still. Playing matches is where he will learn the most but he’s one I’m excited by.
“With David and Leon being 21 and Harvey only 20, it was only right for us to keep hold of exciting young players as part of our group. We want to improve, guide and assist these lads by making sure that they reach their potential and hopefully we are able to do that in the coming months.”
