We are delighted to announce that striker Mickel Platt will join Scott Davies’ squad for the 2023/24 season.
23-year-old Mickel joins us from Bracknell Town following a hugely successful season, with his 16 goals and six assists in 45 appearances helping the club to a second-place finish in Southern League Premier South, ultimately narrowly losing to Truro City in the playoff final. He also lifted silverware with the Robins, winning the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Cup.
Scott Davies had the following to say on his latest recruit:
“Mickel is someone that I’ve liked for a couple of years now since playing against him in a friendly at Arbour Park in pre-season back in 2021.
“On the day he was strong on the ball and powerful in his running, something which I feel is important and will add to the team. He’s still a very good age and someone I believe with the right coaching and opportunities could kick on again in his career.
“Having watched him on a few occasions this year, once I was made aware that other clubs in the league were interested in him, it would have been naive of me to not try and get him on board with us.
“After taking time to think about the offers in front of him, I’m glad he’s chosen us and I can’t wait to start working with him.”
Mickel added:
“After spending the last couple of years at Bracknell I felt as though it was time for a change and to try and test myself at the next level if possible.
“I was fortunate to have a few options but having spoken to Scott and then meeting him and Yella yesterday, I decided it was the right place for me. The club itself, being in the National League South and the fan base was something that really appealed to me.
“I want to score goals and I’ll work as hard as I can to achieve that. I’m ready to get going and can’t wait to see the lads in pre-season for what will hopefully be a successful year for us all.”
