It’s been a busy few weeks for Neil Baker and Jon Underwood as the squad for the 2022/23 season takes shape with no fewer than 13 senior players from last season’s squad staying on, with five new signings – three of which are very familiar faces!
A few weeks ago, we announced that Josh Jackman, Edon Pruti, Joe Dandy, Gabe George, Scott Davies, Lee Togwell, George Hunt, Matthew Lench, Eitel Goueth and Imran Kayani had all committed their futures to the club, followed by goalkeeper Jonathan North. Scott Davies will be our new club captain, with Josh Jackman vice-captain.
This strong core was added to with the return of popular winger James Dobson, who scored 62 goals in 185 appearances in his first spell with the club.
Then yesterday, we confirmed that last season’s Players' Player of the Season, Aaron Kuhl had committed to the Rebels for 2022/23, and that striker Ben Harris would stay on as well.
Rejoining the club are George Wells and Guy Hollis. Wells rejoins after two years away and will fill the vacant left-back slot, adding to the 143 appearances he made in his first spell at the club. The vastly experienced Guy Hollis needs no introduction, and after his brief spell away from the club returns to add to his 275 appearances.
Joining the club are Johnny Goddard and Elliot Benyon, both of whom bring a wealth of experience to Arbour Park.
Goddard excelled for St Albans City last season and has EFL experience with Swindon Town and Stevenage, as well as over 100 National League appearances under his belt with Woking.
Benyon brings experience to the Rebels’ strikeforce and joins after three successful seasons with Oxford City. He has twice played at Wembley whilst with Torquay United, winning promotion to League Two.
