We are delighted to announce that exciting attacker Imran Kayani has now signed a contract with the club until the end of the 2022/2023 season, writes Neil Baker.

I spoke with Imran’s father Shahid in the summer about him coming to the club after a conversation with a mutual friend, and we said that for us to take a look at Imran, as a young player he would need to come in via the U23s and earn the opportunity. This is something we would say to any aspiring young players who feel they could play National League South football.

His first game for the U23s resulted in a hat-trick, and he got a substitute appearance for the first team a few weeks later in the game against Arsenal, however at the time we felt he needed to play more U23s football to help develop, and this is where Academy23 have been fantastic for him, as it has resulted in excellent coaching, a good level of football, and a great platform for them to impress us as managers, and he has taken that opportunity.

His senior experience started with a few appearances on the bench, to getting his full debut in the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup where he also scored his first senior goal. His first start in the National League South was a very disciplined performance away at Ebbsfleet, and this was followed up with an excellent solo goal at the weekend against Welling.

With three goals to his name already, it has been an excellent start for him.

We hope that Imran is able to just get his head down and keep working hard, whilst pushing to play as many games as he can for the club.

Imran is from Woking, with family links to Slough and we hope that with him being the first British Asian signed on a contract by ourselves at Slough Town, this will encourage others to follow in his footsteps.
