The National League recently confirmed that our 2020/21 season is due to start on Saturday 3 October, when we enter the Emirates FA Cup at the Second Round Qualifying stage, with the final league match scheduled for Saturday 29 May and play-offs in June, subject to FA approval.
We continue to follow the Government’s and the Football Association’s guidance on the phased return of elite sports, and continue to be subject to both national and local restrictions. Whilst there is an expectation that the National League South season will commence with supporters in attendance, there will undoubtedly be a significant impact in our matchday operations and reduced overall capacity at Arbour Park for an unknown period of time. As things stand, we have not been informed what our capacity and ground requirements will be.
We are working hard ‘behind the scenes’ to prepare for the new season in this continued dynamic and uncertain period caused by COVID-19. Until we know how many supporters can attend matches at Arbour Park, it is impossible for us to issue season tickets – and we may not be in a position to issue them at all. Pre-season matches have been arranged, but according to the latest guidance these must be played behind closed doors, so we have decided against publicising them.
At present, we are working out how we can and will accommodate supporters given the current social distancing measures and all the logistical questions that come with the protocols.
The 2020/21 season will be unlike any other in our lifetime, with a great number of uncertainties. We hope that supporters can appreciate why, in common with many clubs, decisions around admission prices and season tickets have not yet been finalised. We are constantly monitoring the situation and responding to updated guidelines. As soon as we have greater clarity, we will update supporters on our plans.
In the meantime, thank you again for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you back to Arbour Park as soon as we are able to do so.
