In preparation for the 2020/21 season we have spoken this week with all of last season's squad individually.
As is always the case in football, some players will be leaving the club and we wanted to fully update our supporters on these movements.
Manny Williams is quite rightly a legend in the eyes of the Slough Town supporters and it's fair to say he is held in that regard in the changing room too. His winning goal two years ago at King’s Lynn which clinched promotion to the National League South will always be remembered, but he has contributed in so many ways on and off the pitch and will now look to move on to play more regular football which we both believe is the right thing at this stage of his career.
Following discussions this week and Wellsy’s desire to play at a higher level, it has been agreed that George Wells will leave the club in search of that opportunity. He has been an excellent player for us over the past three seasons and we wish him all the best in his future career.
Scott Davies joined us a few months before the end of our promotion season and played a vital role in getting us up to the National League South and has played a major part at this level. His game time was limited in the second half of last season and for someone who wants to be playing week in week out, at this stage of his career it has been agreed that he will move on to enable this. We wish him well.
Simon Dunn has been a fantastic servant to the club over the past four seasons and a real pleasure to manage. It was great to see him back training at Arbour Park recently in preparation for the play-off game, but now is the right time for him to continue his career at a club closer to home.
We wish all these players the very best for the future and thank them for their significant contribution to the club in recent seasons.
With Mark Nisbet there is unfortunately an element of the unknown due to his heart condition. We will remain in close contact with him but the number one priority for him now is his health and once he is in a position to resume playing/training again we will review the situation with him.
Obviously we will need to add to the squad with these departures - however with the season still over two months away, and with lots of players still available, we will not rush in to anything. As soon as we have further news on confirmed signings we will share this as always.
