Squad news: Rebels ready for Dartford

Jon Underwood looks ahead to Sunday's National League South Play-off Eliminator against Dartford.

After a long wait and a huge amount of preparation on and off the pitch, we are ready now and looking forward to a huge play-off game on Sunday against Dartford at Arbour Park.

As managers it’s our 6th play-off campaign in 9 years but these are exceptional circumstances and for all sides taking place there is an element of the unknown which makes it so hard to predict what will happen in these coming weeks.

Of course, as managers and players there are things we can do in terms of preparation which we believe might give us the upper hand, but the reality is until the game is underway no-one will really know where they are in terms of sharpness, intensity and all the other things that are vital in games such as these.

Our opponents Dartford were the form team back in March having climbed the league since Steve King’s appointment, and he has done a fantastic job there. We narrowly beat them 1-0 at Arbour Park in January but there was nothing between the sides and another close game is expected.

Of course it's disappointing for everyone that these games have to be played behind closed doors but we know the Rebels fans will be tuning in from home, or watching in the pubs in Slough, and will be behind us as they have been all season. We hope to repay that support and will be giving everything to finish this strange season on a real high.

In terms of team news, we unfortunately had some bad news last week in that Mark Nisbet's heart issue resurfaced during a training session, and as a result he cannot take part in the play-offs and will actually require a further medical procedure later this month. We are all obviously very disappointed for him as he has been working hard to get fit in recent months and he will be a loss to the squad.

With the rules allowing six named substitutes, of which five can be used, we will select our squad from the following 18 players, providing of course that our last round of test results all come back negative.

Squad: Jack Turner, Josh Jackman, Sean Fraser, George Wells, Guy Hollis, Ryan Bird, Sam Togwell, Lee Togwell, Scott Davies, Aaron Kuhl, Simon Dunn, Matt Lench, Max Worsfold, Warren Harris, Paul Hodges, Dan Roberts, Ben Harris, Manny Williams.
