We are delighted to announce the signing of 26-year-old attacking player Paul Hodges from National League side Woking, writes Jon Underwood.
He is an exciting player who can play in a number of attacking roles and with this pace and trickery we believe he will become very popular with the Rebels fans and will give us a different option in the final third of the pitch.
Paul spent pre-season with us two and a half years ago and really impressed us but with the form of Warren Harris and James Dobson at the time, and the system we were playing, we could not guarantee him regular football and so he signed for Hartley Wintney where he had a fantastic season, scoring 30 goals in all competitions.
This earned him a move to Woking at the start of last season and he played a big part in their promotion to the National League, making 46 appearances in all competitions, including 26 starts, scoring seven goals. This season he has had fewer opportunities and he has reached an agreement this week with the club to terminate his contract so that he can look for regular football elsewhere.
There has been a lot of interest in him but we are delighted to say we were his preferred destination and he joins up with the squad this week in preparation for our trip to Chelmsford City at the weekend.
