After a delayed start to the BOBi season in Oxford due to waterlogged pitches, we finally got underway with both teams unbeaten in October.
Our League 1 side won three and drew one, having been superbly player-managed by Nathan Richardson in my absence due to work.
In League 2 our team recorded three wins and two draws, with neither Slough team conceding a goal. These are solid starts for both teams following promotions but we need to work on our finishing as we need to kill teams off rather than winning by a single goal.
Last weekend we held St. Albans Deaf scoreless for an hour at Arbour Park, and had created the best chances before an abysmal 20 minutes saw us concede five before a consolation header from Dan Greene. In reality, tiredness against a mainstream Sunday league team and a number silly errors gave a harsh scoreline but we travel to Watford in a couple of weeks to seek revenge in the return fixture.
This Sunday our first team played two 1-1 draws against Newbury, which proved a good test as their team included several Premiership players. Darrell Barltrop scored our goals, whilst Damien Breslin scored the only goal as our reserves lost 4-1 and 2-0 against very strong opponents.
We are next in action at Arbour Park next Sunday morning at 10am in the SE Counties Regional competition. Admission is free so come along and support us against Reading, Ruislip, Aylesbury and Bournemouth.
