Club statement: Response to announcement from Steve Easterbrook

A brief statement from Slough Town Football Club following the recent announcement from Steve Easterbrook regarding his future.

25/04/19

Following the recent announcement from Steve regarding his future, the club wanted to make a brief statement.

We have all been aware for a while that Steve was looking to stand down, so whilst the news is important for the club it hasn’t come as a complete shock - and as Steve mentioned, he did give us two years' notice!

The club is in a strong and stable place and has over the years implemented an internal structure that will enable it to continue to operate efficiently and effectively, and Steve did also mention that he will still be around to help and assist as required. So, whilst regretful that Steve is standing down, the club continues to be very much optimistic about the future.

Replacing Steve is a huge task and one that the club will not rush into, however if there is anyone or any interested parties who would like to be involved in future growth and moving the club forward, then this would be the ideal time to contact us for a confidential discussion. Please email Kay Lathey (gensec@sloughtownfc.net).

We have spoken with the managers, and they will let the players know this evening. But the club reiterates that whilst there is a change at the top, it is very much 'business as usual' and we anticipate no noticeable change going forwards. So please, no wild speculation or panic! Everything really is good.

Whilst we will continue to see Steve around, the club and indeed everyone would like to thank Steve for over 10 years of Chairmanship under which the club has seen phenomenal growth both on and off the field. The club would also like to thank him (and his wife Sally) for the sacrifices they’ve made and their unwavering devotion to the club - we wish him and his family all the very best for the future.
